Beginners Acrylics Workshop Beachscapes
With Helen Worthington | Sat 28th June | 1pm

Event Details
Join local Watercolour & Acrylic Artist, Helen Worthington for an experimental watercolour workshop. Since 2005, Helen has concentrated on producing spectacular artworks in a variety of media - acrylics, watercolour, line and wash, pastels, mixed media and, more recently, oil paints. Constantly renewing her interest in different forms of painting and subject matter has always been a driving force for her art projects to date. Helen describes herself as a ‘self-learning’ artist and is delighted to share her knowledge through workshops with you here at the studio. Experience Level: None necessary. You’ll be shown how to work with acrylic paints and different acrylic brushes and palette knives. If you have already done some acrylic painting, then you might find a different approach here, but if you are completely new to the medium, we’ll work together to build your knowledge and confidence, and create some lovely artwork. Workshop Plan: In this fun workshop there will be 2 different projects to have a go at. Firstly, a small project to introduce you to using acrylic paints and a small palette knife. This will be a loose and imaginative exercise to paint a ‘bouquet’ as a practice for the next part of the session. The second exercise will be a small step-by-step ‘beach-scape’ picture, using acrylic paints, brushes and palette knives, to create a simple impressionistic scene. This will form a good basis for further exploring the medium of acrylics in the future, should you wish. Please don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your projects home in – a small lidded tray or box will be fine. Important Note: Acrylic paints and inks will stain clothing and not wash out, so please ensure you wear clothing that is suitable for this type of work. (You may wish to bring an apron or protective clothing). Also, although I’ve never experienced any problems with acrylic paints, if you have any allergies you might wish to bring some protective gloves in case of contact.
